Metal Music Thread

Fear Factory is industrial metal, so therefore, they're butt metal.
I consider it more of a mix of death metal AND industrial metal, especally Soul of a New Machine since that album is just straight up death metal, they also occasionally do nu-metal (cringe i know)
Interesting fact: Uncle Slam was the first band to write a slam riff despite many people mistakenly believing Suffocation to be the first.
This looks too good, i have to give it a listen

Do you guys consider 'core to be metal? I don't
Depends on the 'core in question, and ultimately the artist in question.
Some 'core is more metal than hardcore, and some is the other way around.
If to you metal has a certain musical structure, prove it and say what it is : Because from domm metal to power metal, the structures are so varied that you'd have a hard time defining it.

People who hate 'core and call it not metal usually are people who feel buuthurt that their old band and classical metal isn't being recognized as much as the more popular stuff nowadays.

I don't consider power metal to be metal
it's too gay
that is also the reason why 'core isn't metal either

Yeah so you define metal based on what you like or not.
Why not just say that there's metal that you appreciate and metal that you don't ?
That's the more rationnal approach. You can even say that there's good and bad metal, but saying "this is metal because I like it", and "this isn't metal because it's gay" doesn't work.
At least you'll be the only on to abide by your own definition, which makes talking about metal suck
