I knew people who lived in wealthy households and had bright futures ahead of them, simply decide to sell drugs and start acting like thugs on the street. Maybe because they had the wrong friends, or maybe they listened to the wrong music or whatever. Fact of the matter is they had no pressing reason to do so other than that they felt like doing so. That person even beat someone black and blue because they encroached on his territory for selling. He landed in prison for that. Why did he do it? Who the fuck knows, all I know is he started gaming on his fucking ps4 all while eating pizza after he got back out.

Well I literally just can't understand your point of view. Yeah you can separate people from society if they're harmful but it's kinda pointless to waste all that money on NOT rehabilitating them.

Well I literally just can't understand your point of view. Yeah you can separate people from society if they're harmful but it's kinda pointless to waste all that money on NOT rehabilitating them.

You waste money on seperating them, however permanently seperating them (death penalty) shouldn't be applied in most cases, therefore you just keep them seperate for a specific length of time. Efforts to rehabilitate them are minimally effective (or so I believe) and furthermore you are using public funds on criminals and those who grievously wronged others (I consider this morally reprehensible). Additionally if you live in a functioning society most people will not have a real reason to commit any sort of crime, if they still commit crimes then there's a very low chance to rehabilitate this sort of person who commits crimes for the sheer sake of it or because they simply cannot fathom morality. If you do not live in a functioning society, then you really don't even have the resources to rehabilitate criminals and should rather work on fixing the root causes of criminality (non-functional society) and when this is achieved you are once again left with the people who would commit crime either way. In my opinion there is therefore no situation where you should use public funds in an effort to rehabilitise criminals.
