Spadeson and the Giant BBC of course
Oh, favorite movie AS A KID? Okay, okay, I didn't really have a favorite, as I never really seeked out movies on my own. I was a youtube minecraft kid. But my most hated movie was coraline because it is tailor made to traumatize me specifically by catering to all my childhood fears.
>Being alone
>Being trapped in a boring and drab purgatory
>Needles
>Abusive (maybe bipolar) parents
>Physical mutilation
>Creepy old people
The purgatory aspect of the movie especially is one of the strongest things the movie has going for it. Absolutely dreadful. Her neighborhood feels like an isolated microcosm (Which is intentional as the monster's literal microcosm is based off of the neighborhood) All of the neighbors are old, depressed, and idly waiting for death to finish them off. All of them also are the kind of wierd people that kids in a neighborhood would make crazy rumors about. Like "oh, those ladies in that house taxedermy and dispay their dog every time it dies, I bet they would do that to you if they caught you" or "that scary guy who lives on the corner has a bunch of rats under his command, I bet he feeds them human remains!" kinds of boogeyman rumors. It is all very artfully dreadful. I said I hated this movie but now I am glazing it. Curious.
