I find the act of installing Windows or using windows in any capacity to be vile. Especially if it's a VM that you're not going to get much use out of. As a day to day Linux user, I've ditched windows almost completely and have never had to rely on any Microsoft product ever. If something doesn't support Linux, then I just won't use it. Even being forced to make a Microsoft account to play something like Minecraft or Halo gives me the ick, but atleast it works.

I like LibreOffice, it's much more efficient. Plus, word requires you to sign in with some gay account, you could pirate it, but I'd rather not put up with Microsoft's bullshit.

My guidance with Wine is that if something you want doesn't work, just try again later. Shit always gets fixed. I remember when you couldn't play certain videogames on Linux at all, and now you can play just about anything, granted that it's not infested with some shitty antivirus o algo, because playing Fortnite and Valorant is so important to the kids these days.

Apt works on any Debian based distros, like Ubuntu and Linux Mint, and Pacman works on any Arch based distros, like Manjaro or EndeavourOS. Those dependencies also exist on nixpkgs for NixOS, zypper and yast for OpenSUSE, etc.
