I only ever played the first Half Life.
Story mode is boring and I never got too far with it before quitting.
Multiplayer is a gem though, I could waste time all day on Crossfire 24/7 servers.

first game is really really fun, the black mesa remake makes it even better
the two expansion games after (ik theres some other one called decay but i couldnt care less) are really short but pretty fun too, not blue shift as much but still its just more HL1
half life 2 would be better than the first if they just took it back from "muh story worldbuilding" and focused more on gameplay but its still really fun nonetheless
the first episode is ass
the second episode is fun but needs to have been longer
and i havent played alyx because im not blowing my shekels on an expensive headset and a 60 shekel game just for more half life

Remakes tend to be awful in general, I don't think I've ever played a good one. I thought black mesa was cool when I was like 12 but I realized how much worse it was when I actually played it years later.
