what are your thoughts on half-life?

Solution
Half-Life is keyed in every way shape and form, the original game is actually my #1 favorite of all time and I can literally play it forever and ever, the expansions are really fun as well that expand the Black Mesa incident to a greater scale. The second game and its episodes are lesser IMO but are still 9/10s.

Valve's theme that you hear in the start of all of their games is actually just the theme from midway through Surface Tension, the longest chapter of HL1. Man the game's cinematics are still incredible today for a 20 year old game, like the tentacle in Blast Pit, the jets in Surface Tension. It's just incredible really I implore you play it; the game really set the bar for what a good singleplayer FPS is while still feeling...
Since this is the unofficial Half-Life general chat, i just finished HL1 again, excellent game, best parts were when i was fighting solder's and when i was fighting solder's AND alien solder's at the same time.
The final boss was mediocre, but is a really cool concept too.

@Steve, i just finished Opposing Force again and i'm pretty sure we are in agreement of how awesome it is, it's my favorite Half-Life game so far, ask me anything about it and i will answer your questions tomorrow, it's 23:00 where i am so i have to go sleep soon.

Oh its absolutely rad, what was your favorite gun the game introduced? I like the machine gun, and it's actually good unlike the CSS one. I also think the spore launcher is really cool. What was your favorite and least favorite chapters too.

My favorite gun is the machine gun (M249 SAW), it's really good against those massive crabs that shoot purple lazers, and i love the spore launcher too (i call it the booger cannon) and i preferred it over the SMg, cray how we both love those guns.
I love too much of the game to select a favorite chapter, it's not the start or the end of the game but rather the 80% of the runtime in the middle that i love spent fighting Shocktrooper (i love Shocktroopers), Black-Ops and electricity-firing giant crabs, oh and those spike-spitting bipedal aliens (i think i named then "blubbers", they amuse me).
Least favorite chapter was the final boss, too easy.

Your AI team mates are so shit in OP lol, the soldiers always shoot me in the back and kill me when im low hp.
I know which NPCs to take and which ones to leave at this point, I always kill the first machine gun guy to get an early machine gun too, its only 50 rounds but that can take out a shock trooper with ease at a time of the game where SMG grenades are sparse.

In half-life killing barnies for their pistols really isn't worth it, but I think it's genuinely just better to kill soldiers for their stuff, they rarely even do anything useful. I guess they can take damage for you? But that's about it. I had 3 soldiers with me, and I clicked the wrong button and accidentally portaled with the displacer. When I got back (like 6 seconds later), all of my soldiers were gibs on the floor.

oh it's great
it's my most replayed game of all time
I've completed it like 10 times
the only other games I've completed more than once is hl2 (3 times) and witcher 1 & 2 (2 times)
