Anti degeneracy can be easily taken too far to the point where it consumes the culture of the site and drowns out everything else. IE part of what is happening to the sharty today. Anti degeneracy values are important and part of what makes a community good. However if such a culture begins to focus on anti degeneracy too much, it becomes sick in the mind. The focus on anti degeneracy, if not recovered from quicky, will mutate into an obsession with degeneracy and those who practice it. At this point it becomes a noticable problem in the community, hogging discussion, drowning out other aspects of the culture, and in the case of the sharty, inviting undesirable offsiters who either bait with degenerate content (feeding and validating the obsessive moral crusader complex even more) the obsessed or contribute to the obsessed numbers while offering nothing of value to the site. This causes the less obsessed people on the site to bring up complaints and confront the obsessed people, who, being to deluded in their ideals to be self aware of the damage they are causing, kneejerk interpret the criticisms and complaints as an attack on the core of their ideals and/or a defense of the degenerates, and again, having their heads too far up their own asses, they conveniently assume that anyone who does this must be a degenerate themselves. So, whenever an obsessed gets called out for the problems they have caused for the community and quality of life in their fervor, their kneejerk reaction is to deflect with an accusation of degeneracy/complicitness in degeneracy. While phony and silly, in a community where degeneracy being an unbreakable taboo is a core value of the community and is a bannable offense, the accusations hold a subconcious weight. After all, if you are arguing with someone wearing a shirt saying "kill all pedophiles" about them doing something loud and annoying all day that has been you and others off, and that person calls you a pedophile, the first thing that a bystander will think without knowing the context is that you are arguing for pedophiles. People in the community are aware of this subconciously, and thus challenging the obsessed for acting like niggers or stealing the website carries an unspoken stigma, people are hesitant to call the bullshit of the obsessed faggots because its not worth the risk of being made out as a pedo/tranny/discord/offsiter/etc and possibly getting banned if jannies don't look for context (which totally never ever ever never happens because our jannies are perfect and not gullible in the slightest). This stigma developing marks the start of a purity spiral. The second kneejerk baseless accusations become a viable deterrent (regardless of if the deterrent is a perceived danger or a real one) to most users challenging the obsessed faggots, they are free to shit up the site as much as they want.
I think that the purity spiral also feeds itself through the obsession with degeneracy. The obsessed faggots' will frequently go nuts talking about porn addicts and how porn addicts should be executed and how they are subhuman and whatnot. These comments are generally directed outward at people who post porn online, and onsite baiters, but I think they likely direct inward as well, with or without the intention of the obsessed faggots. Sure, very few soyteens are outward porn posters and porn addiction recruiters, but to say that a website full of terminally online neurotic imageboard teenagers is not filled with people who either currently have or had porn problems is laughable. You can imagine that many of these soyteens are taking at least some of this aggression and shaming to heart, and feeling dirty and disgusting for their past or present sins, as those comments are intended to make their intended tranny targets feel. This is bad, but for a soyteen it is worse. The soyteen will feel like they are no better than the trannies the sharty goes after, and will feel like if the sharty knew their secret of having been porn addicted, they would abandom them, this is obviously a very scary idea for a soyteen as soyteens don't really fit in anywhere else than the sharty, so an emotional reaction is likely, and what better emotional kneejerk reaction but to join the mob and go after the porn people to prove to yourself you aren't a freak? And thus the mob gains another member, at least if what I am supposing is accurate. In my experience the whole crusader raider movement itself comes off as very extra, very projecty, and very overcompensating for something, which is what I base this theory off of, as well as the occasional soyteen who admits his fears every now and then during euro hours.
Optimally, it would be nice if soyteens were able to cool down with the obsession with porn and gooners and fetishists, but that is kind of difficult with all of the factors forcing that stuff into the cultural limelight. I have a feeling that many soyteens have internalized the fervor so heavily that they are dealing with immense unneeded guilt for relativly minor mistakes they have made or are making in their life. I think shaming for porn consumption is good in moderation, but treating someone like garbage for an addiction they understand is bad and hate themselves for already does more bad than good. The line is drawn for me when the material crosses the line (we all know what line that is) and if the person thinks there is nothing wrong with being a gooner, and especially if they spread and share porn on the internet.
