Most of them don't realize how unfiltered it used to be anyways. The kind of people who claim to love the old internet are ironically enough symptoms of the modern clean algorithmic internet and fall into it like any movement that is pushed to them.
Put any of em in an older website, I don't know, YTMND, SA or old 4cuck and they'll cry as soon as they see people say the nigger word. Hell I think even MySpace girls would be too much for em too. People seem to forget that most memes during that era weren't just "OMG LE EPIC FACE XD CUTE RAINBOW CAT GIFS!!" and we're shit like shock sites and stuff relating to 'p.

I assume that it's an imitation of the early 2000's Internet "le loud and random" typing style with ascii faces and hundreds of exclamation marks. It's prevalent in all types of media made by terminally online trooners obsessed with Frutiger Aero and PS1 games. Some more obnoxious ones who larp as internet oldfags still try to talk like that online too

I was going to post a video by a channel which is essentially this to a T, but the problem is that I can't remember the name of the channel and just remember the characters, I don't even fucking remember a single video they made.
It was a channel that covered old internet/web related topics and shit like that, followed a (male) cat character (picrel) who was energetic, spunky, upbeat and "wOW sO dAtz cOoOl!!" and a MLP pony whom I think was called "Jay" who was female and was a total fucking bitch.

Usually you'll have one of two people, people who think the old internet was "le heckin' terrible with racists and bigots" or you'll have the camp full of 'those' people who think the internet was "le heckin' wholesome frutiger aero internet aesthetics quirky!"

Such a fucking shame trannies and pooners overran Postal. Actually good franchise pounded to dust by people with ridiculous fetishes, what a goddamn lost opportunity. I loved playing Postal 2, I have over 160 hours on the game, but Postal 4 was godawful. Safe edgy humor with no actual message behind it. Unbereable sex jokes. Boring campaign and weapons. I'm so obsessed with this loss...

Weezer is a pretty popular band overall in terms of geeky 90s/early 00s rock, but even before the memes a majority of people either knew "Say It Ain't So", "Buddy Holly" from the blue album or "Hash Pipe" from the green album and "Beverly Hills" from Make Believe. "Island in the Sun" as well probably, but that song is shit.

Essentially what happened with Tally Hall (Ruler of Everything being spread on mass back in 2021) sort of happened with the Blue Album by Weezer.
