Yeah I agree that it's a delicate situation.
I personally have a hierarchy of truths that I am less and less sure of :
The first of these truths is that God exists. Intuitively, just by looking at existence as a whole, it seems that the simplest and best explanation for it all is just God.
Nothing can come ex nihilo, so there must be a primary source, a first cause. And whatever that cause is, I call it God.
Second truth comes from a question : Who or what is God ?
And to me, for now at least, I think the person of Jesus Christ answers this question the best, in his life, his teachings, his doings and his impact on human history.
And then the rest I'm really ready to put into question. Those are my two main truths, but I'm even ready to put those into questions as well, doe I do acknowledge it to be harder for me.
Nobody isn't biased. But I try to fight this bias.

Yeah I know such stories, they're tragic.
Christians themselves often are the worst examples of christianity, but what can you expect from the largest religion of the world ? For all it's members to be saints ? The human remains human after all, and the human does evil for his own comfort.
