    When I say "pro-Nazi" I mean the Pope vocally supported Nazi Germany during the early stages of WW2. I can't find the quote, but I believe Pius XII called Nazi Germany the "defenders of Christianity" when they attacked the USSR. No one knew about the Jews at the start of the war and Italy was allies with Germany. It made sense at the time. The Vatican doesn't exactly have a military, so their words were just words.

    @UltraSoyLord what you said is true about the Vatican being vaguely pro-nazi during the early stages of the war, but at the same time this wasn't any kind of alliance since the nazis were engaging in eugenics already and the Catholics considered that to be anathema. The Jews were not the only issue at stake. I think the Vatican would be against the Nazis sooner or later.
