I wasted the last 3 years trying to learn German and made little progress because I spent most of it using shitty meme methods like Redditlingo. I'm switching to Japanese and this time I'm going to use real methods like reading. It'll probably be easier because there's endless tranime and manga to learn from meanwhile there's almost no good German media.

>he thinks he's going to learn japanese after failing to make any progress in three years in a language closely related to his own
maybe you should find a better use for your time

I already said it's because I was using shit methods and also because in order to learn a language you need to immerse yourself in it and you can't really do that when said language has nothing good to offer beyond like 3 movies and some 80+ year-old military songs.

What is even the point in learning if you are this narrow minded? What are you even learning japanese for? I really hope you're baiting.

Massive trvke.
If you can't find anything to like in German then what makes you think you'll find it in Japanese? The speakers are very elusive and japanese cultural output is very poor in comparison to the german one (or western cultural output just in general)
I really hope OP isn't learning because of chinkslop cartoons, that'd be embarrassing.

I started learning German when I was 16 because I thought it was cool and I wanted to do something in Germany but since then I've come to find it much less interesting. Also I've been looking for German media but found most of it to be lame and it seems like Germans mainly just consume foreign shit anyway. I find Japan much more interesting now.

I want to go to Japan and potentially do something like study abroad there, in addition to interacting with Japanese culture on the internet.

You sound like someone who takes decisions on a whim. I really hope you don't spend any money on this at least.

Western cultural output is almost entirely English language stuff. There's very little relevant German media and even less of it that's actually in the German language. Japan completely mogs the German-speaking world in terms of cultural output.

If all I cared about was tranime then I would just watch it with English subtitles.

Holy mother of ignorant opinions.
Well, I'll be seeing you in a few months.

If you want to learn Japanese, I could probably help you, seeing as I know a little bit of it and probably need a buddy to motivate me to learn more of it.
If you learn enough some day, you can send me a pm and we can have a japanese only discussion in which we try to learn the language as much as possible through our discussions, picking up new words and grammar rules and stuff like that. I also highly recommend using WaniKani btw. Duolingo is shit but great for starting out in Japanese because it gets you used to ひらがな と カタガナ¬
