You're Orthodox, right? Why don't you know Greek? I thought you had to learn it. Or is it like Islam where you just learn how to read the alphabet and read some religious phrases and such

You don't have to learn Greek to be Orthodox geg. These days the Moscow Patriarchate acts more as the spiritual leader for Orthodox people more than others. There's a really small but fast growing Orthodox Turkish community under the authority of the Russian Church, similar trends exist in Azerbaijan.

Nah we aren't required to learn any specific language. I learn about the faith through mostly English sources for now unfortunately. They can be lacking and a lot of stuff just isn't available in English. Let alone Turkish. That's why I wanna learn Russian lol.

Makes sense, topics like religion and history have massive untranslated corpuses in their original language that you're not gonna know without knowing the language itself

Yeah the Orthodox church more so than other christian denominations is very ethnical.
In my home town I have a greek orthodox, russian orthodox and romanian orthodox church, each have their own variations of litturgy.

This can create some problems, as seen with the current war between ukraine and russia

I am not shitting on Ukrainians, I am shitting on the kikes who rule over Ukraine and pitted Ukrainian and Russian people against each other.
