Why would anyone be homeless and sleep in the streets with all the rats, the cockroaches, the litter, etc. When they could just go to jail and get fed every day and sleep in a bed every night? It just doesn't make sense.

about not going to jail, for some people, they're not the types that would immediately rush to do drugs and crime for reasons and thus wouldn't want to be arrested and end up with a criminal record, because they think it will get better and they can have a job again. but at the same time, the city can make it hard to find a livable job as homeless, as in some US cities the average wage isn't even enough to afford being homeless. even though most cases of non-intentional homelessness can easily be solved by moving out of los angeles/california in general
if you're homeless intentionally its because you can leech off of free gibs for homeless aid programs and also do an insane amount of street drugs. also for some crazy people its the allure of choosing one's own fate as a homeless instead of working a 9/5 office job and rentcucking until the age of 80

Most often it's crack addicts and delinquents but sometimes you just run out of money or something or loose a house, I been homeless for a month and is not fun, probably the worst aspect to suffer is hygiene and your mental state

Unironically this, homelessness affects the brain like a drug, they literally become addicted to this way of life. I've seen a couple of streams where homeless people were fed and dressed, they didn't care at all, they didn't want to change in any way, after they received the money at the end of a stream they just went back to the streets.
