I have a projection theory about why THEY as in definitely not me like sonic (and cartoons/fantasy in general) so much. Live action realistic shows are for normalfags and really lean into real life esque in person drama and real life stressful and anxious situations. Spergs have a hard time seperating what happens in this media from reality while watching it so when these stressful and anxious life or death (socially or physically) situations play out in movies because they are candy to normalfags, autists are just stressed out the whole time as if they were there. They will still be hooked because they can't handle not having closure, but the whole viewing is more stressful than it should be for them.

Fantasy and cartoons on the other hand are far enough seperated from reality and real world stressors and dangers they want to escape, so they can plug in to this media without fear of being reminded of real life stupid shit they are scared of. They are also familiar because every person grows up on cartoons, and autists are obsessed with things being as stable as possible. Cartoons also are nostalgic which is something that has far more power over the fearful of the adult world spergs than normalfags.

One relevant problem that arises from this all for spergs is that its extremely childish, or at least comes off that way, and that is embarrasing and damaging to the sperg's self esteem. So, the sperg subconciously tries to find a compromise between their intolerance and need to feel mature. This is where things like sonic come in.
