Discussion What would be the worst possible novel you can think of?

it's just getting started
If you were to come up with something that is worse than a frustrating waste of time, what would it be about? Why would it be so bad?

I have a book containing 20 stories by H.P. Lovecraft. The only one I didn't read in its entirety is The Case of Charels Dexter Ward. It so boring- it was also published posthumously, and I can see why Lovecraft didn't chose to publish it in his lifetime.

It probably isn't the worst novel I can think of though.

Something that tries to be Inception but fails so hard. It has like 12 main characters and 20 plots that are non-chronological, and 2 of the plots aren't even related to the other 18 at all. Every chapter is only 7 pages long and sometimes the plot being written about is interrupted by another plot for a few paragraphs. Also, add pages and pages of infodumps every few chapters and import a few cliches from the Terrible Writing Advice Youtube channel.
If there would be a sequel, I'd make it "bigger and better" but it's twice as convoluted and would have barely anything to do with the first one. Like change even the setting, and nothing else is the same except that one of the characters return. Also, run-on sentences and bad grammar in both books. I'd maybe even stretch out random parts to be way longer than they should be, like
[X] grabs a Sproke. Sproke is shiny and has red and green colors. Sproke is bent from a drop, but it is otherwise cylindrical. [X] presses the tab of the Sproke. It makes [Y] sound. [X] sips the Sproke. [X] lowers the Sproke. Etc. Etc.
(Two paragraphs later [x] is done with the Sproke.)
(Oh, and probably have a tragic backstory for the Sproke)

I used to have a mandatory summer reading assignment I had to do every year. One of the years I noticed that every book on the list had to do with faggots in some way, shape or form. One of the books that stood out to me was one called "They Both Die at the End" by Alex Rivera (who has BPD despite being a male lmao). The description I was given of the book didn't mention any of the actual elements of the book at all, it just said "oh it's this book about two people who know they will die the next day". I was quite shocked to see a 1 star review on Amazon saying "this is a fucked up book with strange sexual themes and homosexuality, don't read it", despite it being targeted towards 14 year olds
I looked up the book recently and saw that this Booktok a lot of you guys are talking about revived its popularity, makes sense why no one here would like it

I never responded to this cuz I was in my hecking shy arc, but this is probably the best answer, for structure at least. What would be the most groanworthy topic though?

pride and prejudice
it's probably a masterpiece but i hated reading it. fucking boring as hell. i actually liked most of the books i was forced to read during high school though, gatsby was fun

I did not like The Handmaid’s Tale for whatever reason. The intrigue of whether the characters would get caught or not was interesting, but other than that the commentary felt stale and unfocused, the ending was confusing and I only realized what happened when someone else pointed it out, and I disliked the suspension of disbelief I had to hold to make it work. Maybe it was revolutionary for its time, but as a modern little chuddy it does not do it for me.
