Discussion What was the last good version of Minecraft?

Lots of people say it's Beta 1.7.3, others think it's Release 1.7.10, and I personally believe it was Release 1.0.0. I just like that version because it's the full, complete game without any useless shit. Beta feels too limited, but anything newer makes me feel overwhelmed. Just wondering what you guys think.

Spam clicking is sovlfvl, modern Minecraft combat is not

Whatever version before they added hunger. Terrible mechanic.

I do like the structures and biomes in the newer versions doe. A mix of the old mechanics and new world gen would be gemmy.

Beta 1.7.3 feels too limiting although I think it's still far better than any version after 1.8. My favorite is Release 1.7.10, especially because there are lots of mods available for this version in particular.

I don’t know which version it was exactly, but back in beta there was some update that completely changed the way caves generated. The caves became less cavernous and instead more like long and winding tunnels. Super boring to mine in. Also whenever the old lighting was changed from white light to a warmer light is also when it stopped looking as good. Don’t know when that happened either.

Use to be a 1.7.10 guy until i realized i like 1.12, it was the last to have that charm

After 1.6 the game lost "that feeling" 1.8 is when nunuMinecraft went into full swing. I'd still say 1.7.10 is my favorite because it has lots of mods.
Besides that, I understand what the beta 1.7.3 crowd is getting at, even doe I first played Minecraft at 1.4 release. After that update, you can just sprint past the mobs, and you have to hold right-click every three minutes. Better Than Adventure looks like a nice mod even though it's trooncore and I haven't played it yet.
My second and third favorite would be the Nether Update and Caves and Cliffs. Those were too high effort to dislike, personally. The update where they overhauled oceans, changed swimming, and added coral gets an honorable mention.

Beta 1.7.3 up to release 1.6 were all great and had sovl. 1.7 fucked with the worldgen a lot to the point where the game felt a weird in comparison but up to 1.8.9 the game was still great and I consider it the final good version- after that you can see Microsoft slop influence seeping in over time. I still consider some of the newer versions decent but they feel out of place, there's too much pointless clutter that doesn't fit in the game.

1.5 or 1.7. Everything after that was raped by Microsoft. A room of boomers could never recreate Notch's work and only c418 understood Minecraft's musical atmosphere.
