If you think its that simple no wonder you think its boring.
Thats only retard excuse to sit around and drink beer with your friends type fishing. Actual fishing is an active game of finding fish, learning their habits, learning to present artificial lures and what lures each type of fish likes the best, theres a lot of nuance to it, but its also very chill and relaxing at the same time. Its best if you have a vessel though so you can move around and aren't stuck on the bank, which is boring. I like to go upta camp and spend all day on the kayak checking all my favorite spots in the pond for bass and pickrel and sunfish, as well as watch the animals and talk to myself. You don't need a boat for all fishing though, exploring brooks and weaving through the woods looking for brook trout is really fun too.
