I drive by a recycling center on the way home from college pretty much every day and there's always some tweaker with scrap copper or aluminum they scavenged from wherever the hell, they need to be locked up until they get over whatever addiction they have and fined for every cubic inch of copper they steal.

'bleit, i don't think i've dealt with the consequences of copper thieves in my city. at least here in america, you're supposed to get background checked (by law in my states) before you sell the copper to any scrap companies, you have to dox yourself to the scrap company before anything gets sold. and you also legally can't transport bulk amounts of scrap metal without a license. so if you suddenly have all these copper cables with no explanation on how you obtained it at the same time people are reporting their copper wiring is missing, thats going to get police on you.
