for me it's China, mostly because it's so different compared to the US and a future conflict with them is likely. i really like reading about the revolution and especially how the ROC was forced to flee to Taiwan. i've also never really talked to anyone from there, i believe they've isolated themselves from the rest of the world (at least with the firewall).
it's the only country that i fear will ever pose a real challenge to NATO and the west in general. and unlike russia they're very "quiet" and come across as mysterious in my mind. if it ever comes down to that it's gonna be a long and hard war.
as for real-world stuff i don't think i'll ever do anything like learning the language or visiting. former is likely impossible for me and for the latter while i'm not a nigger i don't think they'd want americans walking around. it's always going to be a place that i randomly think about, a far-away land with over a billion people.

i used to have this exact same attitude towards japan as a child but it's a westernized boring place to me now. they even have signs in english lol
