The patriarchy is generally defined as a society in which men hold most of the power. I think this makes sense, it's not like you see most people who have led or are leading history be women. It is related to feminists but it can get pretty bitter with some of them being misandrist and saying things like "Men live life on easy mode/have no real problems." There's also the inverse, that the people with the least power tend to be men. If you've seen the r/mensrights infographics, you know what I mean. They're more likely to die by suicide, be homeless, face more workplace injuries, et.c. Now I'll start with some leading questions.
- Is the patriarchy a useful/valid construct to view the world in? Do we live in a patriarchy?
- If so, is it a good/bad/neutral thing?
- If so, should it be changed to something else?
- If you want to change it to something else, what would you change it to?
Please remember to keep calm and not be sexist, people do not like it when you dislike half the population
There's a reason why women are "motherly". They are the ones who nurture and act on a more personal level. The men provide and are expected to act distant while also non-emotional.
I think this is why men are put into positions of leadership, it's because of the way society builds them up to be a certain way that isn't the same for women. I don't think it's impossible for a woman to be a leader though, and periods have no relevance to xir's decision making. I think it's just the way men are set up compared to women, that a man is given more preparation.
Men and women are opposites meant to complete each other.
This is also why transgenderism is bullshit; a man cannot fufill the role of a woman, as a woman cannot fulfill the role of a man. This is also why flaming homosexuals and masculine dykes are considered repulsive.
1. It is to some degree. If it's worked for so long I don't see the problem in trying to break what isn't broken, though I can understand that the past limited women a lot more than it does now, regardless of the advent of civil rights, I do think it works as long as the man has proven himself competent and capable.
In the only case of discrimination, I personally believe that men should be in leadership positions during wartime because men are physicially stronger than women. Unfortunately a lot of men today are weaker willed so it isn't as benefical for a man to be a leader as it used to be. So in today's world it doesn't matter as much if it's a man or a woman who receives a leadership position, a politician is a politician.
Also yes, we do live in a patriarchy.
2. It has it's merits. Can be a good thing but can also be a bad thing. It's highest highs are during wartime.
