It really didn't go very far with that though. I believe there was an attempt to pass a new federal assault weapons ban but it failed to pass. All of the states that wanted to ban "assault weapons" have pretty much already done so and to me it seems like the state-by-state basis will likely be the future of gun legislation for most things. Even the 1994 AWB that DID pass (likely because of shit like the 101 California street shooting as an example) was pretty weak and it sunsetted in 2004.pushing a narrative to further government gun legislation
There are always sketchy things about every mass shooting that may seem coincidental, for example Eric Harris (the short Columbine shooter) had a father who worked with the feds & KMFDM literally released an album entitled "Adios" on 4/20/1999. I'm not going to completely shut off your input (not like I was much involved in this conversation anyway) but I do believe it was possible that Sandy Hook really went down the way the common narrative says it did.
Take all of what I said with a grain of salt, I'm not very knowledgeable tbh
