thread_prefix.18 Sonic the Hedgehog

Before I go, the cam-rips are both identical minus the bit-rate and encode format.
The MP4 is a tad more crisp due to this albeit.

Wow, to keep things short and spoiler free, this is a solid 8/10 from me.
My only major criticisms are that the first thirty minutes of the film felt like as if it was just spinning its wheels in-order to get things rolling, with little time for dead air or taking in the scenery. The Robotniks were also definitely not my cup of tea as they were given far too much screen-time throughout and it felt as if they gave Jim Carrey free reign on the role as his scenes just did not match the films ongoing and ever-changing tone. The character progression felt a little forced at the end, and to be honest, I just wish the film got another thirty minutes to pad and or build upon the existing scenes as that single change alone would've made the world of difference over-all but despite this I had a lot of fun watching the movie and catching the refrences throughout. Kino or something. Major spoiler, but Ivo Robotnik getting the "Sayonara, Shadow the Hedgehog" line was definetly a choice I wouldn't have made geg.

Do you really want music taken straight from the movie? The movies never really had interesting music, I'd be happier with Westopolis.
I've heard people speculate that there was supposed to be a Westopolis level in Shadow Generations that this song was meant for. I hope that wasn't the case, there's already 6 city stages, 7 including the Tokyo DLC, and as far as city stages go Westopolis is boring as fuck, Shadow has far more interesting locales that I would rather see over yet another first level and yet another city level

Anyways, the Shadow DLC for Sonic Dream Team dropped a few days ago. I thought Shadow would control like Sonic and Amy, just with a black and red coat of paint. I was wrong. Sega Hardlight actually went out of their way to give Shadow his own special moveset, and while I don't think they really knocked it out of the park I did eventually warm up to it. Shadow has two unique moves, Chaos Control and Chaos Shift. Much like the boost in Dream Team, Chaos Control can be performed on a timed cooldown, and can be recharged using green collectables scattered on the ground. It's mainly used to stop obstacles that are moving too quickly for you to get through normally, and unlike the version in Shadow Generations it doesn't stop the in-game timer. Chaos Shift is... to be honest I'm not a hundred percent sure how to explain it. I'd say it's a hybrid between the Doom Blast and a Homing Attack. You stop in mid air, point in what direction you want to go (including upwards), and then you go rocketing in that direction. The issue with these moves is that they're not executed particularly well. Chaos Control is mapped to X (or square for GayStation users) when you're standing still, so if you're slightly moving chances are you'll end up boosting instead. A lot of the buttons aren't even being used on the controller, this could easily be mapped to Y. It's not like using more than the A and X button on your controller is foreign to them, when they implemented the Stomp as an add-on move you triggered it using B like in the other Boost games. However, most of my issues are with Chaos Shift. You see, Chaos Shift is used as a replacement as the air dash, which is kind of an issue because I use the air dash a lot in my playstyle. I tend to be quite loose and fast with my character, and I use the air dash to correct myself if I feel I'm veering off the edge or just need to cross a gap quickly. Because of this, when I started playing as Shadow I ended up accidentally activating Chaos Shift, not being fully aware I started Chaos Shift due to muscle memory kicking in, and accidentally sending myself flying off the map without any real way to cancel the move (Chaos Shifts aren't cancellable btw) or course correct, which got frustrating. Aiming Chaos Shifts is really weird as well, for whatever reason you can only use the left stick to aim Chaos Shift even though the right stick would be far more natural. Eventually this issue went away as I trained myself to get used to Chaos Shift, and the move even became somewhat fun when I got the power to use two Chaos Shifts without landing, which allows me to do all sorts of skips and cover a lot of terrain. I do appreciate that Sega Hardlight went the extra mile to make Shadow his own unique thing, they could've easily just made him a model swap of Sonic and Amy like people expected and called it a day, but the execution could've been better.

A few other additions were made. The tutorial stage was revamped, I didn't have any issues with the old stage but I do like this new stage more, it has a better flow to it. There's a new XP tree for Shadow related rewards in the Tails Challenges, which include new stages, extra music tracks from other games, and blue coins for some new powerups. Grand prize is the ability to use Shadow in the main campaign. Unfortunately the game didn't let me keep the surplus XP I had and made me start from scratch, so I haven't gotten everything yet. I was pleased to see one of the music tracks you could unlock is Aquatic Base from Sonic 06, which is my favorite song from that game, kind of a hidden gem.

Just came back from watching it in my local AMC. The food sucked but the movie was great. It was really cool just seeing everyone go crazy during the mid credits scene, a polar opposite from the last film I saw (Joker 2, where only one person was there and I'm not sure if he was even there to see the movie or just staff)

One thing that I wish we saw was another Sonic vs. Knuckles fight. It felt like it was about to set up for a big CGI brawl against them where Sonic would win in a fit of rage and Knuckles would tell him where the Master Emerald is, but then it just sort of cuts to (((Wade Whipple))) playing hockey with the M.E. I think this extra scene would've helped with making the cut from Sonic seething to Sonic pulling himself together a little bit less abrupt.

Also I heard people audibly groan when Wade showed up lmfao

Never heard of either one, and neither dev seems like they have a good reputation, both devs are known for licensed game shovelware and one of them ended up making ACK!-ed by Troonlight

I think 2000s platforms have hidden gemjak potential. Sega was too busy eating cow poop and nintendo was too busy sucking.
also isnt dead by daylight le good cause they had an actual troonella monster?

i think radical highway was supposed to be westopolis and im pretty sure it wasnt that hard to replace it since they look exactly the same
