On Socialism

34. Pope Pius XI further emphasized the fundamental opposition between Communism and Christianity, and made it clear that no Catholic could subscribe even to moderate Socialism. The reason is that Socialism is founded on a doctrine of human society which is bounded by time and takes no account of any objective other than that of material well-being. Since, therefore, it proposes a form of social organization which aims solely at production, it places too severe a restraint on human liberty, at the same time flouting the true notion of social authority.
I mean he is right. Marxism, Communism and Socialism all share the same "godless" factor, they're made to be adopted by unthinking masses that believe in no Savior except themselves, they believe they are the only people capable of changing the world, even though changing the status quo is nearly impossible and has been only done twice in underdeveloped, oppressive countries (China & Russian Empire). Pope Pius doesn't seem to criticize Capitalism (or mention, at that regard) in this excerpt, which is where I disagree with most Christians and Catholics. Capitalism is an evil system, it values money over people. Communism is an evil system, it values production over people.

I think someone said that the problem with capitalism is capitalists and the problem with socialism is socialism.

don't they travel to Belo Horizonte too ou algo
for the beaches
Belo Horizonte is the capital of Minas Gerais, a landlocked state that has only one river running through it, that never passes by the city itself. I don't know if you confused it for Salvador (former capital of Brazil), which is another city known for its beaches

The main city they go to is Porto Alegre, capital of Rio Grande do Sul (i don't know why you said that abhorrent translation instead of pasting the state's native name)
