You can't say "I believe this tree is gonna fall on me" and then act as if you didn't knew it.
So in order to be saved, one needs to accept salvation. Very logical but some modern protestants say that faith alone is necessary and thus you can sin however much you like, since actions do not matter.
Works do not save, faith does. But faith implies works.
