See, this is exactly my point on how derailment degenerates any further discussion of the original topic on the thread, and it can entirely be sourced from a mention of a user then spiraling into new discussion. A solution to this could have been, in the hypothetical solution we came up with regarding moving messages to other threads, to have moved Rot's question about why people hate Basil to Basil's thread about himself. This would have allowed for any further discussion of the topic at-hand in this thread to have continued, if further thoughts were to be generated, while also putting conversation about a user where that information belongs; in a thread that pertains to that user. This method would keep organization proper and avoid any threads from losing their focus, thus generating greater ideas by keeping on-topic conversations ongoing for longer periods of time.
