That would be punishing people who are trying to discuss this. Instead of locking the thread why not just close registration for a while? The only reason to lock a thread is to kill the activity either temporarily or permanently, but why would they do that after the bill thing happened?

Kiwifarms jannies lock threads occasionally. They lock the sharty thread for a couple hours like once a week or so for example. I think that’s just how they deal with threads that cause potential problems.

They lock down threads when they get out of control and become impossible to moderate in real time anymore so they can clean them up afaik.
