I think it's because instagram is more of a normgroid site, and so were the people that made it up, (Compared to steamcord, at least.) like xiuh and parkles. Also I'm pretty sure it started because xiuh wanted to post random memes he found on there and he shilled it to literally everybody. Steamcord was far more closed off and afaik was just people talking. Also steamcorders were younger (oldest was *i think* doedoedoe at 16 something, youngest wasnt even old enough to be on the site.)

Also I just realized that all of the steamcorders were D1 orbiters, no wonder they started orbiting eachother.
