yeah i’m an ESL. English Single Language. .. i wish i could speak other languages fluently. my parents never spoke any language other than english and they only taught me a bit of arabic and that’s for religion.

it's the hard sign, it means the word that's immediately before it is pronounced with its hard pronunciation
I can't recall a word that has it at this moment though

hard sign means that the preceding letter is iotated instead of palatalized, so объединение is pronounced like "obyedinieniye" instead of "obiedinieniye" (which would be spelled as without the hard sign, as обединение)

I learnt it from mge edits, russian memes and the wikipedia page for russian alphabet. Just write in your mother language with cyrillic or something whenever you're bored until you memorize it (could probably take 3 days if you're dedicated enough). Slavic languages are really hard doe, the script is probably the easiest part of russian

I made really nice progress today though, and having more people talk to me about language daily would be a motivator or something. I'm up for it if you want to try it
