is it normal to find single player (survival) vanilla minecraft boring as fuck

i remember playing it like that as a kid and having a lot of fun but every time i make a survival world now i get bored after 10 minutes
i dont even know why, theres lots of stuff i could build and things i could do and it's still so boring i'd rather watch paint dry

i played the soycraft server back in july-early august and it was really fun though, like i'd get up at 6 AM just to play. gave up on that after they reset it and used a shitty terrain generator for the world.
