We are not living in some trannified Sci-Fi sandbox world where there are no consequences to the things you do. You don't gain EXP for drinking magic elixirs and get level up screens when you finish a workout set. People will naturally fall away from a righteous path and into depravity if there is no moral code that can be agreed on of right and wrong. When they do, it affects themselves, the people around them, the animals, the community, and beyond. So an equal force of Good must be brought to bare against Evil to prevent its spread.

Unfortunately the people of the world are allowing themselves to become lazy and isolated from each other which allows this evil to continue to grow and spread from the pockets it already occupies. Only Faith and good works will be able to stand in its way and to bring back a Good society.
