Singleplayer is dogshit and simultaneously too easy yet too grindy without mods, but minecraft multiplayer is still absolvte kino and the only reason I'm not completely bored yet.
But it depends on finding the right servers. I absolutely can't force myself to play those "heckin' vanilla survival and factions w/ payouts servers with a wholesome cozy community and NO GRIEFING!!!" or "you VILL mine the heckin' ores for 2500 hours in our OP prison server with the holesome boilerplate plugins everyone else uses and you WILL like it" slops that make up 95% of servers that exist today. Only exception to me not playing semi-vanilla was the old soycraft which was probably closer to a creative server where you can kill people with its allowance of flyhacks. Wynncraft is and will always be a peak hyperborean aryanerald thoughbeit and probably the only high-pop server I consider to be a gem.
For some reason, cracked Russian servers (or maybe foreign servers in general i haven't seriously checked other places yet) are still based in areas where anglosphere servers got neutered years ago. you can still see people running around wearing hitler skins on a regular basis on like masedworld and crap, and i've had more memorable interactions there within 2 months on playing with those than 10 years of playing large english servers where its like everyone is afraid to talk about anything that isn't immediately related to game meta.
these servers also have more SOVL somehow, they have "survival" servers that are actually closer to creative servers but with flying locked behind a paywall and everyone wants to go pvp for some reason. on such servers, i can see gemmy badly made wholesome kiddy builds within 10 seconds of exiting spawn and its like people here are making genuine attempts to have fun. meanwhile, on similar size anglosphere servers, their survival requires 100 hours of generic vanilla-ish grinding before you get to the unique gameplay, and nobody builds for the sake of building, and their creative servers are dead and feel empty because of how the standard creative plot plugin ends up leaving 90% of random plots as being empty grass field shitholes. the best of both worlds?
Again, most of it is finding interesting servers with a unique community and unique gameplay, because the community is ultimately what makes the 'craft fun to play. Some months ago, I found a kinda-shitposty city RP server that required voice chat mods and had a bunch of other unique mechanics to it. Only issue is the server is 100% in Russian and I completely overestimated how competent I was speaking it over VC at that time. It was truly a learning experience, and I'm not sure I'll return again since im a reclusive SLF. Is that server still a fun gemerald? Yes.
