There are big hurricanes every couples of years that keep on destroying everything in their wake, how tf do americans cope with that, any mutts that can answer?

America is a pretty big place, most parts of the country aren't dealing with hurricanes at all (although they'll have stuff like earthquakes and tornadoes which are honestly worse than hurricanes IMO)
Even if a hurricane comes nearby most of the time it doesn't really affect you, usually it just means more rain at best and power outages and some child flooding at worst, but even those can be alleviated by installing a generator

One election cylce is too short to build the proper megastructures required to stop the storms
It's not about budget, they can always print more
But if a project can't be made under 3 years time (accounting for approval time by the current ruling party) it just will never be completed
