Glasses are a pain in the ass when you are younger, but being near sighted isn't that bad. As you get older, your eyes have trouble focusing from near too far and vis versa. If you are near sighted, you will always have good near sight. Near sightedness is believed to be as common as it is because it gives humans an evolutionary advantage in tool making. Even as you get older, you can use your powerful near sight to craft tools. Good tools > 20/20 far sighted vision. Albeit maybe I'm wrong.
