Portal 1 is more charming but Portal 2 has more interesting levels, i really liked Wheatley takeover

That sounds about right, too bad Portal 2 takes quite a bit of time to get to the interesting parts
I've always been more of a fan of the first game, I like how the game slowly escalates from the trials to you escaping the facility, I like the environmental storytelling through the little hidden parts of the test facilities that have all the scribbles on them, and I just like the writing of the game a lot more than the second

Yes but I don't think it's connection fvcks with the setting/world of half-life (which I care more about) and was the only portal that existed when that connection was made. Portal 2 is 100% better than portal 1.

There's not much Portal 2 did to tie into halflife doe, besides a few jokes. Most the tie-in is transcore-tier comics and some VALVe Q&A

Portal takes place in the UP of Michigan and HL takes place in New Mexico and Bulgaria, so it really doesn't matter besides le heckin valve MCU soys because the combine never interacts with glados or anyone besides a few quick references

It's really used because valve has an indie-tier habit of reusing assets and that's how they explain things like the ricochet bullet being the asset for P1 where the lasers are in P2
