Her family's originally from Hà Nội, but they migrated south after the communists took over the north. She was born in Nghệ An. She, along with the rest of my mom's immediate family, emigrated to the US from my great aunt sponsoring her in 1989. My entire family is Vietnamese, and most of them live in the US.

Unless you already know someone good or have a good family friend doing it, I recommend going to white male barbers for short cuts (Straight or mildly wavy hair), and high-end hair stylists for medium to long hair (Or any length if you have curly hair).

Or you could cut it yourself, if you feel like saving some money and taking the risk.

Never go to a hair salon or one of those dollar cut places, it's never worth it and they will always fuck it up.
