what if the schlog had it's own 1.8.9 minecraft server that isn't survival for once
like a factions server or something, or maybe even a great sharty network... i can imagine it now...

im somewhat of a sysadmin and a lonely loser looking for a project, i have money and i hate what minecraft has become. i remember the golden ages with mineplex and the hive and gamemodes like factions and 1.8.9 still being used and popular, nowadays minecraft has become a gen alpha mobile game shithole with microtransactions and lootcrates and the quality of servers has suffered greatly.

if i could have a chance to host a server for people and get a high playercount on a version of the game that i believe to be superior, i would like that very much. i saw a thread here that talked about what their fave versions were and a lot of people said 1.7.10 - 1.8.9 and seeing that made me think to myself that it might be possible to host my dream / passion server one day, bring back forgotten minecraft gamemodes that people dont play anymore because all they want is to play a shite SMP instead.

minecraft servers lack a lot of things, they lack soul, they lack objective and they lack a community, but with us, we could make a minecraft server with soul, with community, with mascots thanks to the nature of soyjaks. a server just like in the good old days of minecraft, with annoying orange craft and explodingtnt's servers (they were childish and cringe but they had mascots and a community and that's what made them so good)

i often feel like i have nothing to live for, but for some reason, there is a small glimmer of hope inside of me that just wants to see something that i used to love from the past come back to life and be successful, to bring back the glory days of minecraft, for zoomers like us to enjoy once more, while the shitty gen alpha playerbase can continue to play their gayass pika network or some other stupid pay to win server.

if i ever successfully manage to do this, it would be cracked (for anonymity), a few accounts per ip, bot protection, ddos protection, 1.8.9, no ingame microtransactions whatsoever fully funded by me and probably no donations either (or maybe i could accept donations, but offer no rewards for doing so), a lot of planning would go into it, ideas for what the main hub would look like, the gamemodes, the plugins (i know java and can code my own plugins for spigot or paper or whatever is the appropriate server software these days).

i would put a lot of work and effort into it just to see a playercount of atleast like 10 or 20 and then i would be able to rest knowing that the minecraft i loved revived itself for even just a small amount of time.

if it seems like a good idea, i could make a project thread for it someday.

That sounds amazing. Idk how good old minecraft servers were doe, I didn't play minecraft online until about 2 years ago. I would be happy to join, you should be able to find a following here. I doubt servers are that expensive anyways

i would go on a long ass rant, but a part of me feels like i need to put that somewhere and link people to it because of how passionate i am, but basically, back in the day, 2013 - 2016ish, we had many gamemodes that were still popular. gamemodes like factions, skyblock, prison (prison is extremely boring and would need a ton of work just to make it even remotely interesting, but to be honest, prison would go well for a soyjak theme, because of finding gems and stuff, mining coal, gemeralds, ironiggots, etc.), slimefun (its like gregtech if it was fun and not complicated) hive and mineplex minigames, because you're new, you might not have heard of "creative plots" but essentially, they were a gamemode where everyone gets like a plot, which is a 3d canvas and can build whatever they want. people would build rollarcoasters, houses, all kinds of things and even roleplay on those plots. i remember having a private server with about 10 people and we would have crackshot on creative plots, we would make like call of duty maps and have sessions where we would kill eachother with the most op guns ever it was so fun, me and my mates constantly called airstrikes on eachother (crackshot is a gun plugin for minecraft servers)

our private server also had skyblock and slimefun which were amazing, we'd create the most interesting and unique skyblock islands ever.

mineplex and the hive were the fucking goat, so many fun minigames, TERF wars (im not funny), cowboys and indians, dragon escape, castle siege, mineplex was amazing but died due to zoomers growing up and not caring anymore. i had so much fun back then, then 1.9 happened and ruined the games combat and microsoft continued to fuck everything up and add so much fucking bloat to the game and now hypixel is the only playable server for me.

i'm not going to explain all of this to you in full detail, because it would require me to make an autistic essay and post it somewhere and probably provide screenshots, which also sounds fun for me to do. but hell, even back then, there were servers that was just survival with an economy based off of how much ores you mine and there was an ore leaderboard for who could mine the most diamonds or something (legitimately, having a disproportionate amount of diamonds to iron and coal was an easy anti xray measure) and even that was more fun than the servers today.

you can still play most of these gamemodes today, but they just lack soul and charm. creative servers are all dead, except for one, but their community is fucking ELJEEBEETEA!!!


factions has kind of died out but is popular on cracked spanish servers i think. it's also p2w as fuck and in general, most servers are just like that, they're designed around you paying for shit and not actual ingame progression. most "kitpvp" servers are literally just you getting mogged by niggers with diamond armour that you have to pay for with premium currency or grind extremely hard for. survival is still very popular, but loads of servers are very shit about it and include a fuck ton of unnecessary plugins like custom enchantments or some shit, prison is just an annoying p2w grind slog, skyblock is not actually a game about surviving on an island in a sky, but instead is about farming 10000 coozillion iron golem spawners or some shit. minecraft servers these days are basically a business and i don't like that, it's always been my dream to make a server for a community that'll get high playercounts and provide an experience that isnt fucking pay to win shitty lootcrate hell.
