if you ever get bored, weebhunter, you should try learning java
specifically start out by modding on a version of minecraft that has absolutely no fucking documentation
its fun

you can use the java skills to become a programmer perhaps and get a job
alternatively create a game with c++ and spend months debugging the fucking rendering engine

I kind of hate the excessive problem solving of game development. The amount of issues that crop up using even a codeless engine is insane. But who knows, it’s better than consooming all day at least.

for me learning java was such a great thing because i thought minecraft modding would be impossible to do, but thanks to chatgpt it slowly became easier and easier once i started learning how to do shit. like AI sucks but its actually good at teaching you shit, especially for asking it with help for mixins and then it explains to you what you did wrong and how to do it right. and now i can make minecraft mods which is pretty amazing. I legitimately thought it was impossible because of the lack of documentation, but now I can mod any version of the game from alpha, indev, beta, whatever, to latest. Java is honestly easier than I thought, very friendly in comparison to something like C or C++

I got interested in Nintendo 3DS homebrewing once so I had to learn C, and C was a complete nightmare and it still is, I don't understand memory addresses and pointers and all of that shit like at all, but knowledge of those languages is still good to have for programming atleast. So that could be a possible trade for you or me if I get into it.

even doe there is no way someone who starts coding on their 20s will get anything more than a low skilled job that will be entirely relegated to ai within the next 3 years

c is simple and easy to learn on the other hand c++ is a nightmare

i’m gonna learn c++ probably and finish off python this summer - idk if i’d need java cuz im not rly interested in game mods rn but it would be cool

why are you saying this, aren't you supposed to be some muslim woman or something
anyways java is useful for a lot more things than just minecraft mods, but i personally think you should learn Godot game engine its really good.
python is just really fucking easy, so you don't need to worry too much about it. unless ur slow ofc.

real tho, i learnt most of python when i was 12 but never tried to make any projects more than simple clunky tic tac toe.
i’m learning it because it’s good for my cv and i might be going into mechanical or electronic engineering and i’d like to have that under my belt to show i’m versatile - also building my portfolio separately.

lol you actually care about that shit, couldn't be me
i hate those pretentious "oh it looks good on my cv" fucks that spend most of their life just doing shit to put on a piece of paper that wont even impress employers because they just don't read that shit. as a game developer all of my coding skills just goes towards making game projects and thats about it. i personally don't like software developers or startup companies these days because most of the software you could possibly need already exists and if it doesnt you can just make it and upload it to github, but for some reason, being a programmer is a job apparently and shitty companies need you to keep working on their programs for some reason, which idk if its like microsoft or some shit but i personally just don't care about companies and i like open source software more.

even then, being a game developer isn't really a real job either, more of a side hobby that I HOPE i could make into a job, but honestly i just dont care. hopefully i can make my cool lsd dream emulator clone one day or my dream story game i have in my backlogs and then just go rest in peace, only for people to appreciate it like 1000 years later, and then finally, my creations can be the result of some shitty sloptuber who will make a 5 hour long video about it or something.

but the more i go on, the more i realize that games these days are just shit and i obviously enjoy making them but i will never play them and i will never really do anything with them, i don't play most of the games i own in my steam library, so it often feels like theres just no point to really doing anything.

i understand what you mean by this but since i didnt take computer science as an a level i need to demonstrate that i know how to use it somehow. Im not sure what i want to go into yet so for my personal statement its gonna be a bit tricky which is why im dragging in lots of different things!!
maybe thats just you who diesnt play your games but even smaller games or the simplest ones i love playing and i keep revisiting - as long as the art is good

Trve, I've been procrastinating because I think to myself that I'm still young and can slouch around for a bit longer. Despite saying that for the last few years. And it's definitely not something I'm proud of, and would not encourage anyone to do what I did. It really sucks the life out of you.
@cobson88 this will be you if you don't change.

Weebnigga will be fine, because I said so. I think mentality plays a big role in this. It seems like weebnigga actually wants to change his life around, which is a good thing. I think the first step into creating change is having the right mindset about it, like actually wanting to do it instead of feeling like you are forced to do it. No one is forcing you to be a wage slave at mcdonalds for your whole life (maybe except DA JOOOOOOOOOOOOS). I wish the best for weebnigga and I hope he turns his life around.
After working in a minimum wage job for several years and not getting anywhere in life I decided to call it quits. I was never good with school work so continuing an education was a no go.
What was your average day like while you were working at this minimum wage job? Were you just going to work, going back home and doing nothing else?

Pretty much. I was too tired at the end of the day to do anything besides playing vidya sometimes. Not that I had any friends anyway. Once your past school making any kind of social connection gets exponentially more difficult.
