Falsest NVKE, in good Islamic societies, a heavy emphasis is put onto charity and the good behind it. I'm sure many wealthy Christians gave away much of their wealth too.

Didn't the Southern gov refuse unified elections bec they knew they would lose massively? And for most of the war they were dealing with a local insurrection of southern citizens that was just supplied by the norf.

1. The suppression of elections doesn't necessarily mean the populis liked communism; it was because the government was Catholic which the Buddhist majority didn't like
2. The Việt Cộng were a minority of the citizens, not the majority.

Encrusting, read the book "The Lost Mandate of Heaven: The American Betrayal of Ngo Dinh Diem, President of Vietnam" by Geoffrey D. T. Shaw. Trust me, it will dispell most of the myths and clarifies those two points.
