Well they believe in a society where everyone willingly just forks over human behavior and thought for "everyone is equal" and in the end how is it different from today? Well instead of having something for your hard work the government steals it ALL and gives you a slap on the wrist in return. There's a reason most Russian buildings are built terribly, because why put effort in and work hard on something that you won't actually get anything for. Plus last I checked the USSR was dead because the whole system and ideology was dumb

Calculating it was a problem in the 1940s sure, but nowadays you could literally just train a machine learning AI to watch market patterns and understand supply-demand, circulation, predict productivity slow-downs, demand-spikes, etc. in ways that invisible hands just can't.

Damn if only there was a country with tons of experience training machine learning AIs that was also allowing free trade under the eye of a communist party.
