Most Vietnamese Catholics were originally from the north but fled south after the communists took over the north. After the fall of Saigon, many fled to the US. There is a strong Vietnamese Catholic community at St. Mary Magdalene Parish not too far away from where I live (that is not my church though; I go to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton)
