i can see this as being a blip on cable news, just in the sense of "hey this large website got credentials leaked y'all stay safe on the internet y'all make sure to enable 2fa y'all"
but, now i fear that theres going to be some VICE or maybe on the smaller shitlib newssite opinion piece about the ordeal. and that might be unkeyed.

Today, April 14th, 2025—a date which will live in infamy—4chan.org was suddenly and deliberately hacked by the forces of soyjak.party.
Indeed, shorty after sharty bruteforce squadrons had commenced breaching the site's database, the soyteen ambassador to 4chan and his colleague delivered to our community a formal reply to what we have said for years (/qa/ lost). And while this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or of armed attack.
It will be recorded that the poor security measures in place & existing hostilities makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time, the Sharty has deliberately sought to deceive our staff by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.
The attack yesterday across all boards has caused severe damage to 4chan's moderator and janitor forces. I regret to tell you that very many 4chan staff have been doxxed. In addition, some of our moderators have been reported suicidal and checked in to their local psych wards.
