I don't think ping will really matter much for terraria of all games, no matter if you do Europe or America it should be fine.

Before we actually do this, I need some clarification on how the server is going to be run, TShock seems like a good idea, but I still need to know from you lot.
It's going to be plain terraria on a large world, with PVP on? Will it be anarchy with factions griefing eachother or do we need anti griefing measures and some sort of anti trolling measures so that NPCs of the world all exist in a server hub safezone and people can go build stuff elsewhere, or should we avoid doing that and allow everyone to build 1 big mega base and just rely on the idea of everyone being friendly, and if they're not we just kick them?

Essentially because people want this so bad I'm probably going to have to start hosting like immediately on a VPS just to check if I can actually do this.

how much money would this cost you?

If I can get away with 2gb of ram, 12 dollars a month, otherwise it could be 24 dollars a month or something like that. Might even buy a custom playit domain so it'll be schlog.playit.gg or something like that.
