Depends, have you only read English ones made in the West like Katawa Shoujou? (even though crippled girls are le sexy)
But if you're referring to the medium as a whole, eh maybe, there are extremely good and short ones that gets the point across within less than an hour, but also really good ones as well that take like 80 hours to get some moral across like how killing is bad (but rape is le good)
Japs cant make a serious moral and ethical dilemma without having some watersports or rape scene in it

Also very funny to note Rance VI and Sengoku Rance (Tag: High Amounts of Rape) take like 50/60 hours to finish and I don't think that includes all of the other side content or whatever included geg, I suppose lore and all but still

Apparently the one I'm reading right now has like a 2 hour duel in like slow motion explaining like the basics of katana duels or whatever all to end in like 1 swing
