only apple thing i have is an iphone and i want a decent laptop that i can usually take anywhere and i can take out at any time. i know i could get some smaller windows laptop but i find them slow in my experience albeit or something i just want a computer that can be somewhat fast and be productive to use along with fluidity

Do you want your computer to be incompatible with like literally fucking everything? Apple does this thing where they make everything proprietary and generally despise compatibility/open-sourcing.
If you said yes to that question, what the fuck is wrong with you?
Also don't buy a macbook, if you're getting a laptop get one with good cooling then install windows 10 LTSC on it first thing and probably harden it

compatibility isn't a big issue albeit since most stuff you'd want would work on it, and even if i wanted to do gaming i could just get wine or just play roblox but i don't really want to game on a mac

in the Intel era i would say no but nowadays they're solid machines if you just want something that works well without tinkering
however DO NOT CHEAP OUT ON RAM, do NOT buy a MacBook Air or something with 8GB. 16 is the bare minimum. the SSDs in modern macs are unable to be replaced (soldered and likely paired to the board) and if you get one with low RAM it'll rape the SSD via swapping. if you're going to get one for normie stuff (web browsing, watching movies, editing documents) then 16 will be okay but you'll probably need more than that if you want to be futureproof.
the M series chips are really impressive, they use far less energy to do the same things relative to an x86 (intel/amd) cpu. only caveat is that they're not really good gaming machines but nobody plays games on macs anyway

Just use windows or linux, mac is cucked and a lot of super useful tools can't be used on Macs because they just weren't developed to work on them. Linux is better than mac even if it's not as widely used as windows/is less intuitive/might have compatibility issues compared to windows because it glows the least
Macs likely have shittier interfaces and probably glow btw
Also Apple REALLY hates it if you try to repair/modify/tinker your computer and makes it much more difficult to modify the hardware compared to something like a PC or regular laptop

that's mostly what i plan to do with it. i do have a laptop i use for this but it's not the fastest. plus macs are quite pricey but i'm not purchasing one anytime soon as i want to get a job where i could get a sizeable amount of money and maybe get my parents to chip in

it depends on what he's doing. for programming and content creation (basically anything in the adobe suite) they're excellent but when it comes to more specialized things like CAD i'd stay away.

i only use linux on a small laptop that i just use for school stuff along with watching youtube but it's somewhat inconvenient to use

fair. to me the thing with macs is that if you're going to spend a lot of money, at least do it right. base models just aren't a good value. it sucks but that's how it is

Dawg just get a laptop with really good cooling and like 16gb of ram, laptops have a habit of preforming significantly worse over time due to overheating issues and I think macbooks have massive cooling issues due to the way they're designed (thin and lacks fan power by the looks of it)

also i recently got a new pc and monitor soo i'm holding off of the mac until a year or so but in the meantime i'm just gonna think on it

Buy a dragoon cap and ball revolver instead and practice shooting instead because you got doxxed lole

get a laptop with really good cooling
the only x86 laptops that really meet that requirement (aka they don't thermal throttle every 5 seconds) are either 10 years old or they're bulky as fuck which is the exact opposite of what a macfag would want
i hate to sound like a shill but cooling is technically a different thing on macs since they use ARM cpus now which are much more efficient (not to mention they don't use 14nm+++++ intel garbage)

i just want something compact and i could usually take it with my anywhere and take it in and out without it taking up much room

I hope you plan to replace your computer in a few years then because the laptop is going to overheat, sending its performance to nig gerhell

the pc i have is almost 10 years old and it still works fine
Laptop problem, PC's have good cooling so they work well for a very long time
