I don't have roosters, but now i have my guinea fowls waking me up at 6am (sometimes sooner if they spook themselves)
All I've ever read/heard was that they are good "alarms" for danger, but they really don't serve that purpose since they scream at literally nothing all day.

Since I'm blogposting already, my goose is a shit guardian also. She only does her "warning scream" shit when she sees me. Any predator can stalk around without her giving a shit though
