As a male author, is writing about a female protagonist gay and retarded?

especially if I barely interact with women, I don't think I can write a "realistic" female character
also thinking about it more, it just sounds weird
Not really, most women welcome male authors trying to engage with them in a positive manner, just avoid stuff like "she was a BADASS EMOTIONLESS TOMBOY WITH 69 BROTHERS" or describing her too sexually. What are you thinking of writing if I may ask?

It would be cool to watch a girl character change to what you might find as an ideal woman, for lack of other experiences, and what motivations and obstacles you give her as she changes from her start point

Its a realistic woman only if she gets fucked by Chad and Tyrone every weekend on a booty call
Dont write about this, because as a Schlogger it would be plainly obvious that you were just projecting your own desires onto the page.

I posted about it already, but I want to write a story that explores internets cultures and how fucked up it sometimes is. I want the main protagonist to be completely alien to internet and it's culture, that's why he's from a future where modern society is replaced with a medieval-tier one. That's also why I thought making the protagonist female would make it more alien, since internet (especially the non-surface net) is male dominated, also there would be this contrast of a pure village girl being thrown in to the fucked up world of internet.
Here's a summary of the story I've written so far:
In the far future, centuries after modern civilization has collapsed, a girl from rural village starts having vivid dreams of fascinating worlds.
Enamoured and obsessed by these dreams, she loses touch with those close to her. Until one day, the dreams stop.
Being estranged from the people from her village, she wants to escape back to those fascinating worlds again.
Guided by a feeling from her last dream, she leaves her village, finding an ancient bunker filled with enigmatic circuitry and machines.
Exhausted, she falls asleep in the compound, unknowingly transferring her consciousness to a virtual reality network.
In this strange new reality, she meets it's eccentric and diverse netizens and communities.
With their customs and cultures being completely alien to her, she quickly realizes this world isn't as friendly as those from her dreams and tries to escape back to real life.
However, the deeper she enters the Net, the more she becomes intertwined with it, doubting if reality is worth returning to...

You should make it a male protagonist if you can since you are male you'll probably be able to write it better

I don't think the choice of sex for your protagonist will make any difference the story isn't in any way male or female but if you want to show how strange it is all for her go for it, I mean netizens are majority male yes but because males are much more introspective and introverted (SPERGSSS) and not because it's a male thing, girls with same personality traits do the same

He's a novice writer how can he write a female realistic character when he doesn't even talk to them? You need a strong theory of mind I think

Judging by the plot, this story is more likely will prove that the internet is a good and natural thing.
I don't plan on giving some profound messages like "Internet.... LE BAD", I'm not in a position to do so, it's just going to be an exploration and observation of how things are
it's going to be somewhat based on my experience with being exposed to the internet and also how I've seen other users turn out, since there is more than enough examples of terminally online tards who I wouldn't exactly call good or natural
