He often expressed how the userbase, which he helped cultivate, had turned on him. He hated the site’s obsession with drama and its increasingly toxic atmosphere. His rants became more frequent, darker.
By late August, he was straight-up talking about ending it all. He even sent a message to the mod chat saying, “If this place doesn’t kill me, I’ll do it myself.” He stopped showing up on Discord as much after that, disappearing for days at a time. On September 3rd, Froot came online for what would be his final message. He posted in the mod chat something that chilled me to the bone: “I’m done. I’ve left everything to Root. You won’t see me again.” After that, his account went dark.
