Froot was never the most stable guy, but around mid-2024, things started spiraling. He was under immense pressure from the constant trolling, DDoS attacks, and the internal drama that came with managing soyjak.party. He vented to us mods in the private channels, talking about feeling like the site had become a monster he couldn’t control. He often expressed how the userbase, which he helped cultivate, had turned on him. He hated the site’s obsession with drama and its increasingly toxic atmosphere. His rants became more frequent, darker.
By late August, he was straight-up talking about ending it all. He even sent a message to the mod chat saying, “If this place doesn’t kill me, I’ll do it myself.” He stopped showing up on Discord as much after that, disappearing for days at a time. On September 3rd, Froot came online for what would be his final message. He posted in the mod chat something that chilled me to the bone: “I’m done. I’ve left everything to Root. You won’t see me again.” After that, his account went dark.
At first, we thought he was just taking a break. He had done that before—gone offline for a week or two to clear his head. But then, rumors started spreading about his death. People in other circles were talking about how he had committed suicide, and no one could get a straight answer from Root or Doll. Not long after that, Doll began deleting old messages and wiping conversations from Froot's account. It was like he was trying to erase any trace of Froot’s real personality. The Froot we knew was gone, and what was left was a hollow shell being puppeted by Doll. Other mods started disappearing from the Discord, either banned or leaving on their own.
