Are they worth anything? I thought only the silver pennies from WWII actually had any value (asides from their face value)
Technically 3x their face value (3 cents lmao). I just like to collect them as they're starting to become rare in circulation.
The silver pennies you mentioned are actually made out of zinc-coated steel iirc. Most look like shit because the zinc layer is thin and steel is prone to rusting.

Interesting. I remember my grandmother had some of those kinds of pennies, but I don't think they were the valuable kind. If I recall correctly it's only from a specific year that they're actually super valuable, and even then only in mint condition.

The most valuable wheat cent in general is the heckin 1909-S VDB and even shitty examples will get around $700 minimum from what I remember. There's also a few other valuable years/mint marks but a lot of the pricey wheat cents are just error coins that look neat.

I was talking about the silver pennies, but I think she had some wheat pennies too. One time I found a penny from 1902 when I was on a field trip. I think I was in the 8th grade then.

Oh fuck you're right, the 1944 ones are rare. I assumed you were talking about regular copper ones because I wrongly thought there weren't any valuable steel ones. I'm tired, my bad.
Haven't been into coins for a while. It's a neat hobby but what are you supposed to do with them? That's why my knowledge is a little rusty, shieet.
