Tbh, now that it doesn't have any effect, I think it would be good to just remove it completely. Or have it displayed with text instead of numbers, as in like "Generally liked" "Loved" "Generally disliked" (like my cool heckin fallout nv faction ratings) as to prevent the site becoming like reddit. Aldoe point farming does bring activity.
