It's not that normie, there's still a lot of people who were turned off by the game due to the Werehog, medal collecting, Eggmanland, etc (I'm assuming you're talking about the HD game, not the PS2/Wii version)
The normie takes would be Sonic 2, 3, both Adventure games, Generations and MAYBE Colors, while the poser take would be Sonic 1 (because that game is boring and only has two fun levels)

Why did people hate eggmanland again i thought it was a fun level

I didn't play many but I enjoyed Adventure 1 the most, it's a shame Adventure 2 was utter shit. Imagine making a game where ⅔ of the levels are filler. The retarded scavenger hunt levels all took me more than 40 minutes.

Just the first three games, the classics. I've probably spent the most time playing Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Never really got into any of the newer games. I did play Sonic '06 and Sonic Unleashed waaaaaayy back in the day but I thought they were pretty bad even back then.
